3/23 -Weekend Happenings-

written by Brian on March 21st, 2012

Powered by Yeast 1st Anniversary!

Friday 3/23 5:30 to 10:31 at Bottles PDX

Our great friend, Tim Ensign, is celebrating the first year of his new company, Powered by Yeast, with a fantastic menu of fermented drinks at a Fort George staple bottleshop and taproom.  For this event, Tim came down to the brewery for his first brew on our “Sweet Virginia” brewery.  Anyone who knows Tim, knows that it’s not “sweet” that he’s going for, it’s “hoppy.”  Tim brewed up a pungently hoppy batch of IPA coined, “Powered by Hops” to celebrate.  This party will be the first release of this el Jefe, which won’t be around long.  Also on the menu is some fantastic Belgian style beer, mead, organic wine, and some concoctions that blend the whole lot.

Fort George Day at Hop N Grape: All Grain Homebrew Demo

3/24 from 12:00pm on-

The Fort George Brew Crew will be doing an all grain homebrew demonstration and talking all things brewing/beer/bowling!  Want to know how to brew Vortex?  Mike and Jason have brewed up many a batch.  They’ll tell you the hows, the rest is up to you.

The Hop N Grape has put together an epic taplist for this event, and stocked up heavy on XVI Chapel: Roses on Roses.

On Tap

1811 Lager

Quick Wit

NRA (Nut Red Ale)

Sunrise OPA (Oatmeal Pale Ale)

Bourbon Barrel Cavatica

 PDX Mercury’s Malt Ball

3/24 from 2pm-10pm at the Bossanova Ballroom

The Portland Mercury has teamed up with the Oregon Brewers Guild for the most unique and hip pairing event yet: Beer and Rock & Roll.  There is an A-List of Oregon Breweries teamed up with some of the best talent in Oregon.  For this 1st (and hopefully annual) event, Fort George got teamed up with Lost Lander.

After talking for a while, we decided to brew a Belgian White Ale as homage to the white garb currently flaunted by the  rockers.  The zest of 12 grapefruit, a dash of corriender, and heaps of cardemon round out this sessionable Belgian ale.  Mellower and easier to drink than a Quick Wit, which is a feat, this beer is designed for the session and sweat of a rock show.  Fort George Public House beer-divas Sarah B. and Sarah C. will be representing, so if you see them, say Hi!

Check out Lander and Lost Lander Belgian Ale before both of them become too cool.  Right know, you’re in the know.  Cheers to another awesome 2012 weekend.  May your beer container never be empty-
